Translation and apostille are often confused. Here is when you need each, and the right order to do them in.
Whether a translation needs to be apostilled depends on the receiving authority. Sometimes the original is apostilled and then translated; sometimes the certified translation itself must be authenticated.
The usual order
- Apostille the original document
- Produce a certified translation
- If required, authenticate the translator's certification
